How to Put a swimming cap on:
Putting your swimming cap on can be simple, but in order to keep your hair as chlorine free as possible, decrease the chance of splitting or tearing your hat, and reduce the chance of your swimming cap falling off during a race or your training session.
TIP 1: When you are putting your hands in the cap make sure your fingers nails are not pressing on the silicone/latex cap material. This may resort in the cap ripping.
TIP 2: When your cap/hat is on make sure you get rid of any air bubles by pushing them out with your hand.
TIP 3: Pull the cap over your head in a dome shape. Do not stretch the cap/hat too much or it will rip. Look at this picture and see how the hat is being stretched too much:
TIP 4: If your hat keeps slipping off your head then try washing it out. Use soap and water on the inside of the hat. If it continues to fall off then you need to try another cap because the other one may not of fitted your heat properly.
Here is my Youtube tutorial on how to put a swimming cap on if you have long hair.

Equipment Care

We always wash out our costumes / drag shorts after swimming and let them dry naturally, this will help prolong the life of your costumes.
Tip: after your swim put your costume into a waterproof plastic inside your swim bag and do not wrap your costume in your towel.
Also it is wise to wash out your swimming cap, we find that after a while it becomes slippery and keeps falling off, just wash it under the tap and add a little talcum powder.
After a while swimming goggles can lose thier anti fog coating, if your goggles are still in good condition you can buy a small bottle of anti fog spray and recoat your goggle lenses. Be careful not to scratch the inside of the lenses.
One more little tip, why not wash off your float / kick board in the showers, this will stop that horrible smell being left in your car when the float is left in the boot / trunk (USA..:o)) of your car.

Swimming ear plugs are ear plugs which are designed to keep water out of the ear, allowing people to swim or participate in other aquatic sports without getting water in their ears. Ear plugs are highly recommended for swimming, especially in the case of people who swim frequently, because swimmers are at risk of developing infections in their ears.

Why do people use nose clips for swimming?
A nose clip primary purpose is to keep water out of the swimmers nose. So swimmers will use a nose clip to ensure that they will not accidentally inhale or snort water while they are swimming. The feeling of water going up your nose is a horrible sensation.
Nose clips are mainly used by divers and synchronized swimmers, the nose clip will prevent water from getting into the nose during acrobatics in the water.
By wearing a nose clip, swimmers can increase comfort in the water, and reduce the risk of infections or irritations caused by partially inhaling water.
Although most completive club swimmers tend not to wear nose clips.
Synchronised Swimmers tend to have their nose clips attached to cords or strings so that they can be worn around the neck when not in use.
There are a variety of different types styles and designs of nose clips made by different brands, which can be made from plastic or metal, and they may include padding to make the nose clip more comfortable for prolonged wear.
Masters also like to wear a nose clip I have noticed.
